The gallery was closed for the 2020 season, but our artists were still creating, each responding to the pandemic in their own way.

Reflections
... early on I felt very stressed by all of the uncertainty, not knowing how bad things were going to get or how our summer plans would be affected. I kept calm by going for long walks and those walks inspired several paintings--of migrating flocks of geese, grazing cows, and snow melting in the fields. Taking Flight and Cows in the Mist are a couple of examples. Then once things settled down I was feeling very sad about all of my summer workshops being cancelled.

I downloaded an online workshop from one of my favourite instructors, Jane Davies, and spent one intensive week working in black and white. Pattern Language 1 and 2 are from that time.
Lately, with summer weather here, what I'm missing most is all of the visits we usually have from our families, and so I've been painting from family photos from other summers. Betty (my mother-in-law), Sarah and Hugo (my niece and our cat, who died last fall) and Morning Coffee are the first few from this new series.
