Nancy Steele
After graduating from NSCAD, Nancy worked with silversmithing techniques to form jewelry and boxes. After Queen’s University, drawing and painting became her tools for expression. For 16 years now, she have experienced the magic and special beauty of this wonderful Wolfe Island community, whether sketching musicians playing in the bars, painting the ferry docking in the village, or neighbours engaging in conversations while sitting for their portraits. Nancy paints in oils, acrylics and watercolours and the prices range from $800 to under $100. The portraits are generally 12 by 12 or 11 by 14 inches and the plein air panels at 6 by 36 inches are especially interesting when place beside or over a doorway. Upcoming summer events include Stories and Portraits with the Wolfe Island Historical Society, an Artist in Residence project at the Old House Museum and The PUG, a pop up gallery happening on Main Street Marysville.
